Last August, the Bronx was Dancing Towards Health, the theme of the Hispanic Federation’s 5th annual Get Up! Get Moving! event to promote Hispanic family physical activity for better health and wellness. Coca-Cola participated in the event to serve low and no-calorie beverages, and share its nutrition brochure in Spanish with community members.
The day was filled with dance as a fun physical activity, with Zumba lessons and capoeira demonstrations. There were also free health screenings, tennis clinics and more.
In its five years, the event has saved lives according to President of the Hispanic Federations Lillian Rodriguez Lopez. “Thousands of New Yorkers have received health screenings, joined an exercise group or sports team, or learned about health services available to them,” she said.
